This week’s guest contributor is our Pastor of Families & Community Engagement, Jeana Pynes.
The refugee crisis in our world is far from over. Highlands has the privilege to partner with the ACC, a refugee resettlement organization. Though few refugees are being accepted into the US at this time, we have the opportunity to welcome those who are. One way we can show our support, love and care for refugees is to attend a rally at the capital for World Refugee Day.
The rally is next Weds, June 20th from 10 am–12 pm.Highlanders will meet at 9:15 am at the Spring Café in the First Baptist Church on the corner of 14th and Grant. If you have any questions, feel free to contact Co-Pastor, Jenny Morgan.
Highlands also co-hosts community dinners at the ACC once a month. With fresh flowers and tablecloths, we let these folks know how delighted we are that Colorado has become their new home. Little trinkets for the kids and a potluck dinner make this a time to connect across cultures. It is yet another way we at Highlands can build a bigger table!
If you are interested in joining us on the third Tuesday in July or August for a community dinner, sign up here:
Because of the World Refugee Event, there will be no community dinner in June.
Save the Date! Sunday, September 16 we will host “Moving Forward: Refugee Support Re-Group”. Lunch will be provided as we talk about next steps in our work with refugees. Details to follow!
It is a privilege to be with you on this journey, as we seek to make things right in this world.
