Welcome to our House of Worship. House of Service. House of Celebration. House of Do-Overs. Welcome to our House of Justice, House of Love. House of Compassion. At Highlands Church, God is like our ‘Housekeeper,’ shaking things up; shaking the dirt and dust off our building, and shaking the dirt and dust off of us, so that an even more just and generous community rises up. It begins with each of us, including our pastors, considering what God is doing in our world and in our lives.
“One last shaking, from top to bottom!” The phrase “one last shaking” means a thorough housecleaning, getting rid of all the historical and religious junk so that the unshakable essentials stand clear and uncluttered.
Do you see what we’ve got? An unshakable kingdom! And do you see how thankful we must be? Not only thankful, but brimming with worship, deeply reverent before God. For God is not an indifferent bystander. [God’s] actively cleaning house, torching all that needs to burn, and God won’t quit until it’s all cleansed. God -God’s Very Self- is Fire!
